WHY: TO HELP EDUCATE AND ASSIST PARENTS OF PRESCHOOLERS WITH NEWLY DIAGNOSED VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS, BY PROVIDING PRESENTATIONS FROM PROFESSIONALS IN RELATED FIELDS, AS WELL AS PROVIDING A RECREATIONAL EXPERIENCE AND PEER SOCIALIZATION FOR YOUNGSTERS.

HOW: CONTACT BEACON LODGE OR YOUR LOCAL BVS (BLINDNESS AND VISUAL SERVICES) FOR MORE INFORMATION. EMAIL THE CAMP AT beaconlodgecamp@verizon.net.

COST: THERE IS NO COST OTHER THAN A REGISTRATION FEE WHICH INCLUDES 2 ADULTS AND 1 CHILD. EACH EXTRA CHILD AND/OR ADULT WILL REQUIRE AN ADDITIONAL FEE. THE CAMP FEE CAN BE SPONSORED BY YOUR LOCAL (YOU MUST CALL AND REQUEST IT). ALL FOOD AND LODGING IS PROVIDED. IF YOU KNOW OF OTHER FAMILIES WITH A VISUALLY IMPAIRED CHILD UNDER 6YRS OF AGE, PLEASE PASS ALONG THIS INFORMATION! THIS IS A WEEKEND YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS!!

CAMP CONNECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Visually impaired children ages 9 months to 6 years.
  2. A maximum of 11 families will be registered.
  3. Child must be accompanied by at least one parent or caregiver, no more than 6 people per cabin.
  4. Registration fee and camp fee include 2 adults and 1 child. Additional adults & children will be an additional cost (see current rate).
  5. Adults will attend several educational seminars, while children participate in group activities supervised by camp staff. Family time is scheduled for children and adults to participate in camp activities together.
