 WATER!
Swimming - Swimming is great fun, as well as great therapy for many people with special needs. Beacon Lodge has a new swimming pool, (Completed in 2005) for our campers to enjoy. It is of course fully staffed with experienced lifeguards during all swimming hours, and well fenced in for safety when not in use.
Boating - Since Beacon Lodge has its own private lake and access to the river front, boaters can enjoy canoeing, kayaking, river rafting, paddleboating and tube floats on the water. Small-ratio classes are taught boating safety, operation, and recreation. Special trips include a white water rafting trip on the Yeoughigheny River and several canoe/kayaking trips along the Juniata River.
Fishing - The Charles E. Marsh lake at Beacon Lodge is fully stocked with trout making for an exciting fishing experience for many campers!
Aquafest - This is an event enjoyed by the campers in our Children's Village. Water races and relays challenge each camper, and there's a pretty good chance of getting wet!
Special Trip - Campers are offered a special trip to Delgrosso Amusement Park for a day of water rides and a catered meal. This trip, like all, is well staffed and supervised so our campers can have a great day in the water!
 GAMES!
Indoor and Outdoor fun - From group initiative games to relay races and outdoor bowling, campers enjoy hours and hours of individual and group related gameplay. A quiet game of checkers or cards is always a common sight in the living room of the main lodge, as well as bingo and boardgames. Outdoor fun includes miniature golf, shuffleboard, parachute games, basketball and beeperball, and much more!
 MUSIC/DRAMA!
Music is a fun part of Beacon Lodge Camp. Between the musicals, short skits, and plays performed to the entire camp, those who enjoy performing can ham it up on stage to the delight of all campers and staff! Many campers say that the teamwork needed to accomplish putting on their show and the lasting friendships made are things they leave with and never forget. Dancing and storytelling are other fun activities to learn and enjoy. |  NATURE!
Hiking/Nature Walks - Beacon Lodge Camp is made up of 583 acres of beautiful mountain wilderness that every nature enthusiast is sure to enjoy. Take a leisurely walk along a stream, through our Braille Trail for the visually impaired, on fossil hunts, or go exploring for wildflowers and butterflies. For the more adventurous, take a ten-mile hike to Licking Creek, go rapelling or tackle rockclimbing.
Outdoor Adventure - Camp craft and outdoor survival skills are emphasized in our Outdoor Adventure program. Campers learn how to construct a tent from materials found in nature, how to purify water for drinking, how to tie challenging knots and more. In the end, they have a new name: "Beacon Ranger".
Ropes Course - Team building and self esteem are the theme in the "High Adventure Challenge" program. Fourteen elements offer the campers a great deal of challenge. Striving to accomplish each goal through working together is important, but learning about oneself is the key.
Riflery and Archery - Archery and riflery are taught with a strong emphasis on safety and responsibility. Bow strengths varying from 15-40 pounds and shooting distances from 15-30 yards provide a challenge to both the beginner and the expert archer. The covered riflery range allows campers to shoot in any type of weather. Laser archery is the newest addition to the program.
Special Trips - Both adults and children are offered special trips to places like a local farmer's market, state park, craft fair, or local events. There is also a kid's fair for the children and everyone is offered overnight camp trips, boating trips, and mountain/tandem bike trips.
 ART!
In the Arts and Crafts program, campers have the opportunity to express their creativity. Making sculptures from wax and building a box to hold music CD's are but a few projects campers are welcome to do. All campers are encouraged to use their imagination to plan and create a work of art to call their own. A pottery wheel and ceramics shop are nice additions to the program.
